5 Features that Make Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 an Attractive Smartphone

Panasonic has been taking big strides in the Indian smartphone market, especially in the last couple of years. The Japanese company’s Eluga series of smartphones try to bring in phones with varied unique selling points across different price segments. The company recently launched the Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 and 700 in India, The Eluga Ray 500 is the smaller and cheaper smartphone of the two, but has some real cool tricks up its sleeve to challenge the best in the business.

Let’s take a look at the five unique and noteworthy features of Panasonic Eluga Ray 500:

1. Dual Cameras that actually work

The Eluga Ray 500 has to be one of the cheapest smartphones to come with dual rear cameras. At a time when every other flagship smartphone is coming with dual cameras, it’s only fair that the technology trickles down for the budget smartphones as well. The Eluga Ray 500 comes with one 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP 120-degree wide-angle camera with f/2.4 aperture. That’s similar to the arrangements we have seen on LG smartphones including the LG G6.

2. Huge 4000mAh battery

The Eluga Ray 500 has drawn some inspiration from Xiaomi’s Redmi series and boasts of a BIG 4000mAh battery. The battery is big enough to last for a day and a half even with heavy usage, and can easily last a couple of days on normal use. You don’t need to worry about the juice running out when you are out on a short vacation (Hey! you can even click beautiful pictures with the Dual cameras!)

3. Clean looking design

While it’s true that the front of Eluga Ray 500 looks like every other smartphone, the back looks great in soft-gold. The dual camera arrangement seems to be inspired from the hugely popular (and expensive) iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus. The white antenna line at the bottom adds to the design of the phone. We do wish the bezels on the front were a bit thinner, but considering the fingerprint scanner is housed on the front, that’s still not too bad.

4. Bright and colorful display

The Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 comes with a 5-inch IPS LCD HD display with 2.5D curved glass on top which makes it a delight to use. It has a NEG2 glass protection on top to save the display from occasional drops and scratches. At 294PPI, it’s good enough to watch your favorite movies and videos.

5. Powerful Internals

While the externals are beautiful, the internals are no pushover either. The Eluga Ray 500 is powered by a 1.25GHz quad-core MT 6737 processor and is paired with 3GB of RAM. You even get 32GB of internal storage with an option to extend by up to 128GB by just plonking a microSD card. It ticks most of the connectivity checkboxes: 4G LTE, VoLTE, WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0, FM Radio and more. It runs on the Android 7.0 Nougat with near stock skin.

All in all, at Rs 8,999, the Panasonic Eluga Ray 500 is a compelling option for anyone looking to purchase a good-looking smartphone with a big battery and stunning dual camera. It comes in three beautiful colors – Champagne Gold, Marine Blue and Mocha Gold.
