Garmin’s new $80 Vívofit 4 Comes with a Color Display and Still Lasts All Year on a Single Charge

 

Garmin has upgraded its entry-level activity tracker with the introduction of the vívofit 4. The new wearable features a redesigned exterior and more importantly, the company claims it is capable of lasting an entire year on a single charge despite the addition of a color display. The fitness band will be available in the United States for $79.99 which is $20 less than its predecessor on Amazon.

The Garmin vívofit 4 comes with a bit more sportier build and even flaunts a speckled coat on a few color options. The revamped physical button also looks a lot more premium than before. You can swap out different colored bands for an additional price of $20 each. The screen can remain always-on and you also have the ability to customize watch faces, themes from Garmin’s official Connect smartphone app.

Another significant change is that the vívofit 4 can be used for tracking your swims as it has a waterproof rating of 5 ATM. Other than that, it offers the usual fitness trappings including counting steps, distance traveled, sleep, calories burned, alarms, stopwatch, weather, a Find My Phone feature and more. Like before, it can also log activities such as biking, running, what have you.

The vívofit 4 also allows you to configure custom step goals each day. Moreover, it will automatically pause or resume your workout if it detects you’re on a break. Neat. Thanks to the coin cell battery it runs on, the activity band can last up to a full year on a single charge which is quite commendable considering it no longer employs a monochrome panel.

 

The Garmin vívofit 4 will be purchasable in three color options — White, Lime Green Speckled, and Black. Interchangeable bands cost an extra $20 if you opt for the Speckled Black, White, or Black bands and $30 if you go for the Speckled Merlot and Speckled Navy shades.
