Folks over at Fonearena have spotted a brand new Meizu-branded handset that is set to go on sale very soon. The new handset is the Meizu M5s which, according to reports, is a successor to the Meizu M3s that was released in China last year. Let us now check out what the spec sheet of the Meizu M5s and see what it has on offer.
Meizu M5s specifications
The Meizu M5s is a relatively compact handset that sports a 5-inch, 2.5D curved display. Powering the handset is a Mediatek MT6753 System-On-Chip that houses an octa core processor running at 1.3 GHz. The Meizu M5s gets a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash at the rear. The front camera is a 5-megapixel unit that should let users take decent selfies. The rear camera also supports Phase Detection Auto Focus and claims a quick focus time of less than 0.2 seconds. As for software, the Meizu M5s runs Meizu’s own Flyme OS 6 atop and Android 6.0 Marshmallow core.
Like most Chinese handsets, the Meizu M5s also features dual SIM support. However, in this case, the handset gets a hybrid microSD slot. This effectively means that one of the SIM slots double up as a slot for adding a microSD card. That brings us to the fact that the phone gets the option to expand the internal memory further. The Meizu M5s would be offered in two versions – one with 16GB memory and the other with 32GB of storage space. The phone also boasts of a fingerprint scanner on the home button.
This new Meizu will support 4G LTE networks with VoLTE and a host of expected connectivity options. It will also support fast charging with claims of being able to charge from 0 to 56% in 36 minutes. The battery has a claimed capacity of 3,000 mAh.
When launched, the Meizu m5s would be offered in the following color options: Rose Gold, Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold and Star Gray colors. In China, the 16GB variant would be priced at 799 yuan (US$ 116 / Rs. 7790 approx.) while the 32GB variant will set buyers back by 999 yuan (US$ 145 / Rs. 9730 approx.) The handset goes on sale starting February 20.
