MWC 2017: Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 with Nougat unveiled along with Nokia 3310

HMD Global has finally brought the Nokia back to the game. Nokia has unveiled two new smartphones at the pre-MWC 2017 event held in Barcelona, Spain. Nokia is working with Foxconn to manufacture the new Android-based smartphones. Today at MWC 2017, Nokia has announced the new smartphones.

Nokia launched the Nokia 6 as its first smartphone in China. Today, Nokia has announced the global availability of the Nokia 6 along with two new Android-based smartphones – Nokia 5 and Nokia 3. These devices are priced and slotted based on their numerical chronology. That means, the Nokia 3 is the budget friendly one while Nokia 6 remains the mid-range model. Also, Nokia promises faster software updates and security patches by working closely with Google and using a stock version of Android.

Nokia will retail for Euros 229 (₹16,175 approximately) while the Arte Black Limited Edition bearing the glossy finish will retail for Euros 279 (₹21,120 approximately)

A step lower than the Nokia 6 is the new Nokia 5 has 2.5D curved display and well-rounded corners. It faintly reminds of the iPhone, but such comparisons have been beaten to death already. Crafted from a single aluminium block, the Nokia 5 boasts of its unibody design. The camera module at rear appears like a long capsule. The back of the Nokia 5 is spotless without any antenna lines. Nokia has integrated that antenna on the top and the bottom, very similar to the Nokia 6.

The Nokia 5 will sell in single SIM and dual SIM variants starting at Euros 189 (₹13,350 approximately).

Nokia 3310

Nokia revisits its one of best built basic phones with a modern take. The new Nokia 3310 is curvacious and comes in a glossy exterior. Nokia has added a 2-megapixel camera with LED flash and made it capable of connecting to the 2.5G networks. The first thing that will pleasantly delight you is a colour screen, but not an impressive resolution. Also, the legendary Snake game has been upgraded to meet the colour screen and your fingers.

Nokia 3310

Nokia has also added micro-USB support, Bluetooth, memory slot, Opera mini, and a headphone jack. Nokia 3310 promises 22 hours talk time and one month standby time. The phone is expected to start selling for Euros 49 (₹2,750 approximately) in the second quarter of this year globally. Nokia plans to introduce the new Nokia 3310 in orange, yellow, grey, and matte blue colour options.

Withings gets rebranded as Nokia

Last year, Nokia acquired Withings to make it a part of its Digital Health portfolio. All the Withings products focused on capturing health data such as digital smartwatch, scale, and more.

Nokia’s new portfolio Android smartphones – Nokia 6, Nokia 5, and Nokia 3, along with the Nokia 3310 will go on sale globally in second quarter of this year.
