There is news coming in that Google Assistant could be one of the features in the next update rolled out to the Nexus devices. As mentioned above, the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P are the two Nexus devices pegged to get the Google Assistant in the latest update. If this rumour is true, these two will also be the first non-Pixel smartphones to receive the update. Rumours also hint that the LG G6 could also be in line to receive the Google Assistant soon. The Nexus Player is also expected to receive the Google Assistant soon.

Touted to be the Google equivalent of Apple’s Siri and Microsoft’s Cortana, the Google Assistant was first rolled out on Google Allo, the company’s instant messaging app, followed by the Pixel and the Pixel XL smartphones. The Google Assistant can be launched on the smartphone by long-pressing the home button.

Google hasn’t given out any information as to when this software will be rolled out to Android Nougat running smartphones, but users can use this software through their rooted smartphones.
