Qualcomm’s Upcoming Mid-Range SoC Lineup Including Snapdragon 670, 640 and 460 Specifications Leaked


Majority of smartphones globally are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile processors. Manufacturers like Samsung, Xiaomi, Google and OnePlus make use of the Snapdragon mobile processors on their devices. According to a new report, Qualcomm is prepping a new mid-range SoC lineup for 2018. The lineup will include Snapdragon 670, Snapdragon 640 and the Snapdragon 460.


The leaked details point at some of the features and specifications of the upcoming Snapdragon processors. The Snapdragon 670 is expected to come with 4 x Kyro 360 Gold cores clocked up to 2.00GHz and the remaining 4 X Kyro 385 cores clocked up to 1.65GHz. On the imaging front, the Snapdragon 670 will support single sensors up to 26-Megapixel or dual sensors of up to 13-Megapixel. Connectivity features on the processor will include a Snapdragon X16 LTE modem which touts a maximum download speed of 1Gbps and an upload of up to 150Mbps. Its worth mentioning that the Snapdragon 670 may end up supporting 64GB eMMC 5.1 and screen resolution of up to WQHD.



The Snapdragon 640 is also an octa-core processor and is expected to succeed the Snapdragon 630. The Snapdragon 640 is made up of 2 x Kyro 360 Gold cores clocked up to 2.15GHz and 6 x Kyro 360 Silver cores clocked up to 1.55GHz. As far as graphics are concerned the Snapdragon 640 is likely to be paired with an Adreno 610 GPU and will share the 14-bit Spectra 260 ISP with the Snapdragon 670.

Lastly, the Snapdragon 460 will succeed the 450. The mobile processor features eight cores, 4 x Kyro 360 Silver cores clocked at 1.8GHz and 4 x Kyro 360 Silver cores clocked at 1.4GHz. The Snapdragon 460 is expected to share the X12 LTE modem and will support a single sensor camera of up to 21-Megapixels. The new mid-range SoC will mostly be unveiled in Q1 2018.
